The Maupin area offers a refreshing retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. A small town pace in an area filled with unspoiled desert beauty will set your visit in the right frame of mind. Located just 45 minutes south of The Dalles on Hwy 197, and just a short drive from the Portland or Bend areas. Recognized for superb white water excitement and world-class wild trout and steelhead fishing. Maupin is your headquarters for outdoor recreation.

The Maupin area is a vast playground for deer, elk, and bird hunters. Multiple runs of steelhead, salmon, and trout help fisherman find serenity on the Deschutes River. In the summer, Maupin is soaking wet with white water rafting. Come see what the high desert has to offer any time of the year. 

The community celebrates the early season's activities June 30th with the breast cancer benefit event "Splash For Pink." The 3rd annual Splash For Pink community event features $79 raft trips, live music all day, and a raffle and silent auction to raise money for the Celilo Cancer Center and the OHSU Knight Foundation. 

With over 300 days of sunshine a year there is plenty of nice weather for any visit to the area.
